Alfredo Sandoval is the Chairperson of the Air Force Academy Board of Visitors. As Chairperson, he directs the Board in providing independent advice and recommendations on matters relating to the Academy.
Sandoval is a managing partner of the Private Investment Group, which focuses on portfolio management and wealth transfer. He is a former Senior Vice President at Merrill Lynch and a co-founder of Creosote Partners, bringing real estate development and renewable energy projects to tribal reservation lands in the Coachella Valley, Calif.
Sandoval is a former board member of the Agua Caliente Development Authority where he invested more than $100 million of tribal assets which grew more than tenfold under his leadership. As a Tribal Gaming Commissioner, he also managed compliance of tribal casino properties which employed thousands of people.
He has been a former director for the Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times - a Pediatric Cancer Camp, as well as an inaugural member of an Indian Wells' City advisory committee. During his tenure, the city's newly developed 36-hole golf resort was rated among the best in California by Golfweek and Golf Magazine.
Alfredo is the recent chairman for the U.S. Air Force Academy's Diversity Advisory Panel, advising senior leadership on diversity recruiting, retention and accessions. He is a recipient of AFA's Outstanding Diversity Officer. As an Air Liaison Officer, he mentored scores of candidates to become cadets, and later officers. Mr. Sandoval serves as the chairman of Rep. Mary Bono-Mack's (R-Calif.) Academy Selection Committee. During his career, he's helped many congressional members and their staffs improve their nomination processes.
He has worked closely with political leadership regarding diversity representation issues, academy appointment scholarships, and critical funding for service academy's diversity recruiting and accession efforts. He has authored two studies examining diversity in the Cadet Wing at the Air Force Academy and in the Defense Department Executive Corps. He also authored a study reviewing Congressional participation in the service academies' nomination process and is a co-author of a chapter in "Attitudes Aren't Free: Thinking Deeply About Diversity in the U.S. Armed Forces." All of his work has garnered national attention serving as catalysts for change within the DOD.
Alfredo is a 1982 graduate from the United States Air Force Academy. He earned master's degrees in finance and marketing from Wright State University, is a graduate of the Air Force's Air Command and Staff and Air War Colleges, and holds a certificate from the University of Pennsylvania - Wharton School in International Relations.
