This week’s Air Force Academy Rifle Athlete of the Week is junior Anna Weilbacher of Leona Valley, Calif.

At the Citadel/VMI matches in Charleston, S.C. last weekend, Weilbacher was the overall top scorer on both days of the competition, Jan. 27-28.  

In the first match, she fired a 581 in smallbore and 594 in the air rifle. Her aggregate score was 1175, which led all shooters in the match. Weilbacher went on to lead in the Jan. 28 match against the Bulldogs, firing a 584 in smallbore and 592 in air rifle. She finished in the lead with an 1176, a season best. 

 Weilbacher is setting the standards for high scoring on the team. She's ranked 23rd in the NCAA with an average score of 1170, and is averaging 579 points in smallbore and 591 in air rifle for the season. Her career high is 1184, set Jan. 14, 2017, against Ohio State.

This is Weilbacher’s third rifle athlete of the week honor of 2017-2018. She received the honor in Oct. 17 and Oct. 30, 2017.
