Biography

The U.S. Air Force Academy's faculty is nationally recognized and officially received its Higher Learning Commission from the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in October 2009, reaccrediting the school for 10 years. The Academy has received numerous other accolades, including:

Recommendations of full Adult Basic Education and Training accreditation for 10 engineering and computer science programs.
Top university in the West, according to a recent U.S. News and World Report listing of 320 colleges, with the number 2 aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical program and the number 8 undergraduate engineering program.
Top management in the nation for undergraduate-only programs.
Rated by the Princeton Review as the best of 368 surveyed universities for most accessible faculty with a student-teacher ratio of eight to one. The Princeton Review also named the Academy the best value college of 2009.
Rated 15th of 569 colleges across the country in Forbes Magazine's America's Best Colleges survey.
Placed among the most competitive colleges in the United States according to Barron's Profiles of American Colleges.

Accreditation Report

The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools released its report on the Academy's accreditation status Oct. 27, 2009: HLC releases Academy accreditation report.

The report is broken into two sections. The first is an assurance section, which evaluates the Academy's compliance with its accreditation criteria. The second is an advancement section, which contains evaluators' suggestions for contuned improvement and success.
