Col. Timothy D. Ferguson is the Vice Commander of the 10th Air Base Wing, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. He directs more than 3,000 military, civilian and contract personnel who conduct all base-level support activities for the entire installation. These activities include all aspects of security, civil engineering, communications, logistics, finance, contracting, chaplaincy, legal, lodging, food service, military and civilian personnel, and family programs -- as well as all medical operations including aerospace medicine, family practice, specialty care and ancillary services, an ambulatory surgery center, dental residency training program, laser refractory center, radiology, and the Defense Department's only joint-service refill pharmacy -- all supporting more than 4,000 cadets and a total military community of more than 35,000 personnel.

Colonel Ferguson earned his commission after graduating from Air Force ROTC at the University of South Carolina in 1986 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He has served in a variety of assignments encompassing law enforcement, security, air base defense and special weapons. He has commanded the 10th Mission Support Group at the Air Force Academy, the 447th Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron at Baghdad International Airport, Iraq, the 39th Security Forces Squadron at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, the 363rd Security Forces Squadron at Prince Sultan Air Base, Saudi Arabia, and served as Air Force Detachment Commander, Naval Consolidate Brig Charleston, S.C., for one of the Air Force's Level II Medium Security Prisons.
