Chief Master Sergeant David R. Staton is Command Chief Master Sergeant, 10th Air Base Wing, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. He advises the commander and senior staff on matters of military readiness, morale, quality of life and professional development of more than 3,000 military, civilian and contract personnel assigned to the Air Base Wing. The chief also serves as the commander's enlisted representative on wing committees, councils and boards.

Chief Staton grew up in Gentry, Ark., and entered the Air Force in June 1988. He diverse career includes various duties as an Information Manager, Master Military Training Instructor, First Sergeant and Group Superintendent. His assignments include bases in Michigan, Texas, Arkansas, and Japan with deployments to Southwest Asia and Afghanistan.

Prior to his current position, he was the Superintendent, 738th Air Expeditionary Advisory Group, Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan. There, the Chief was responsible for training, mentoring and developing the Kandahar Air Wing, Afghanistan Air Force into a self sustained and viable force. In addition to providing oversight to group members, he served as the NATO Senior Enlisted Adviser to the Commanding General and direct mentor to the Command Sergeant Major of the Kandahar Air Wing, Afghanistan air force.
