MISSION
The 10th Security Forces Squadron conducts law enforcement duties along with security and antiterrorism operations to protect the U.S. Air Force Academy. The 10th SFS is also responsible for the safety and security of hundreds of thousands of visitors at NCAA Division I football games, annual cadet-related activities and other special events. The 10th SFS integrates seamlessly with other agencies to provide flawless security for distinguished visitors, including the president and vice president of the United States. The squadron also conducts combat arms training for personnel at the Academy and at Peterson and Schriever Air Force bases.
ORGANIZATION
The 10th SFS is composed primarily of military personnel with civilians filling some positions throughout the unit. The 10th SFS also has a mobility commitment, and personnel regularly deploy in support of operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
The Operations Section is charged with securing the base and providing law enforcement services for the Academy community. It provides 24-hour support with patrols on the road, K-9 support and investigations. Operations also coordinates security for football games and other events. Its areas of responsibility also include managing the Chenega Security contract at the Academy and administering the Pass and ID Center near the Academy's south entrance.
The Training Section is responsible for conducting regular required arms and marksmanship training and in-service training for the squadron. It is also responsible for the 10th SFS' budget, vehicles and equipment.
The Reports and Analysis Section files and maintains reports and traffic citations and reports criminal activity to Security Forces Headquarters and the federal government.
