Former cadet candidate to face court-martial

A former Air Force Academy Preparatory School cadet candidate is scheduled to face a special court-martial here Jan. 29 on charges of possession and distribution of ecstasy.
Airman 1st Class Ralph Day is charged with three specifications of violating Article 112a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice: using, possessing and distributing a controlled substance.
The charges are merely accusations, and the accused is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
Ecstasy, also known as MDMA, is a Schedule 1 controlled substance. Potential adverse health effects may include nausea, chills, sweating, muscle cramping, hyperthermia, high blood pressure and heart or kidney failure, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. MDMA tablets are often found with other substances such as methamphetamine, caffeine, dextromethorphan, ephedrine and cocaine.
