Mountain West men’s basketball schedule released, Falcons to play 18 conference games

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. --

The Air Force Academy Athletic Department released the 2016-17 Mountain West men's basketball conference schedule, featuring eight home-and-home series and two one-time games.

Air Force’s one-game meetings are at Colorado State and at home versus New Mexico.

Each school is scheduled to play nine home contests and make nine road trips during the conference portion of the season. This is the fourth year the MW has used an 18-game format since expanding to its current membership in 2013-14.

The 2016-17 Mountain West schedule begins Dec. 28 with five contests. The conference season plays-out over 10 weeks and concludes March 4. League play will determine the seeding for the 2017 MW Men's Basketball Championship March 8-11 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Mountain West institutions will release game times and non-conference schedules in the coming weeks.

The conference also announced the format and game times for the 2017 MW Men’s Basketball Championship. The 10-game tournament begins March 8 with three first-round games. The men’s quarterfinals are set for March 9 with a pair of semifinal contests March 10. The tournament will conclude with the men’s championship game March 11.
