Cadets still need sponsors

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. --

The Cadet Sponsor Program needs cadet sponsor families for the Class of 2020.

Master Sergeant  Alok Padhi, the acting director of the Cadet Sponsor Program, said sponsor families build a professional supporting relationship and provide a home-away-from-home for cadets.

“Sponsor families are essential contributors towards the growth and development of cadets,” he said.

Eligible sponsors are active duty, retired and reserve service members in the grades of O-3 and above, E-6 and above, and Government Service employees GS-05 and above, as well as non-government civilians.

Cadets are scheduled to meet their sponsors at the Doolie Day Out event July 23. Applications for new Doolie Day Out sponsors are no longer being accepted due to the lengthy background check process.

Previously registered sponsors may call or email the Sponsor Program office to volunteer to sponsor cadets for that this one day event.

The Cadet Sponsor Program is still taking requests to sponsor cadets through the academic year.
