Visitor Information

Cadet Chapel InteriorDue to the current force protection condition, visitors to the Air Force Academy must enter through the North Gate, which can be accessed from Exit 156 on Interstate 25, 14 miles north of downtown Colorado Springs. All visitors who need to be sponsored onto the installation for other business must use the South Gate Pass and Registration Center. Visitors with a valid need to enter must have a photo ID. The Academy is open to visitors daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Visitor Center is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Note: The 10th Security Forces Squadron will implement changes to several manned gates throughout the installation beginning July 1 as a result of ongoing manpower reductions across the Air Force.

North Gate visitor access hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., reducing daily public access by two hours.

In addition, North Gate operating hours for Department of Defense identification cardholders will be will be 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The gate will no longer remain open on weekends until 1:30 a.m. Anyone entering or departing the base after 10 p.m. will need to go to the South Gate.

Security Forces will also reduce manning hours at two interior gates which are only accessible to DOD ID cardholders.

The gate located between Vandenberg Hall and the Athletic facilities will be manned from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday - Friday. This gate can be accessed all other times using USAFA-issued Common Access Cards.

The gate located behind Sijan Hall will be manned from 6 - 9 a.m. Monday - Friday and will be accessible using USAFA-issued Common Access Cards all other times.

tabAdditional Information 
Use of handheld cell phones while driving is prohibited. A driver may use a cell phone only with a handsfree device or if the vehicle is parked. Violators will be ticketed.

Large bags and backpacks are not allowed in the Visitor Center, the trail from the Visitor Center to the Cadet Chapel or the chapel. Pets are also not allowed.

Motorcycle riders must wear a Department of Transportation-approved helmet with a strap and eye protection, sturdy over-the-ankle footwear, a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, long trousers, full-fingered gloves or mittens and a brightly colored and reflective upper outergarment.

Bicyclists must wear helmets and reflective outerwear. Group riders must stay in single file with traffic on base roads.
tabAreas Open to Visitors 
Visitors may access several overlooks across the Academy, the Cadet Chapel, the Honor Court, Arnold Hall, the Cadet Field House, Falcon Athletic Center, Falcon Stadium, the Association of Graduates building and the Visitor Center. Some of these facilities do not open until 9 a.m. The Terrazzo, airfield and housing areas are off-limits. Persons or organizations who wish to sponsor that will take place outside visitor hours must coordinate with the 10th Security Forces Pass and Registration Center. These events require a sponsor or organization to create an entry authority list, which must be turned in at least three business days prior to the day of the event.

The Pass and Registration Center's operating hours are weekdays from 7:30 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. Pass and Registration is closed for all national holidays and 10th Air Base Wing down days. For more information, call 719-333-0441.
