4/15/2010 - U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- A senior at the Air Force Academy and native of Plano, Texas, is one of 10 finalists for the Senior Class Award for lacrosse.

Fans can vote once per day until May 17 for Cadet 1st Class Ridge Flick to win the award by going to www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/lacrosse_2010.

Fan balloting counts for one third of the total, with the remaining two thirds determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members. Cadet Ridge is neck-in-neck with the West Point candidate, Army Cadet 1st Class Andrew Maisano, a midfielder with the Black Knights lacrosse team.

"This award is like their Heisman Trophy," said Dr. Hans Mueh, Air Force Academy athletic director. "But he needs our votes to get ahead and stay ahead. Army is rallying behind their candidate ... let's all get behind Cadet Flick and beat Army!"

The Senior Class Award consists of four components: leadership, character, academics and athletics.

As a junior, Cadet Flick scored 38 points and 16 assists to lead the Falcons to a 7-7 (4-1) record, matching their all-time best finish since 1995: second place in the Great Western Lacrosse League.

Cadet Flick was named Air Force's offensive MVP was also a second-team All-Great Western Lacrosse League selection at attack, scoring at least one point in 13 of 14 games. He had three separate career-best five-point performances on the year in league wins over Quinnipiac, Ohio State and Denver. He finished season tied for second in the league and 16th in the nation in assists per game with 1.57 and was a two-time GWLL Player of the Week.

Cadet Flick has a 3.46 GPA. His academic work includes research in plasma actuator use in controlling airflow, and his team designed a light strike aircraft for consideration for military use. Cadet Flick will graduate in May with a bachelor of science degree and attend undergraduate pilot training.
