Mortuary Affairs is responsible for providing funeral services, including interment, at the U.S. Air Force Academy Cemetery. The Mortuary Affairs office will make arrangements with the base Honor Guard to provide military honors to eligible veterans and provides a chaplain to provide any requested assistance.
The Air Force provides a plot, vault, temporary and permanent grave marker, vase, opening and closing of the grave and perpetual care of the grave site at no cost to families. Those eligible for interment at the Academy cemetary include Academy cadets and alumni, military personnel assigned to the Academy at the time of their deaths, Board of Visitors members with prior distinguished military service, and Medal of Honor recipients.
