Chief Master Sergeant John C. Alsvig is the Command Chief Master Sergeant, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. He advises the Academy’s Superintendent and senior staff in the direction of a 47-month program of military education and leadership development that produces leaders of character immediately ready to lead in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. Additionally, the Chief guides matters of military readiness, morale, quality of life and professional development of more than 9,000 permanent party and cadet personnel, and serves as the Superintendent’s enlisted representative on numerous committees, councils and boards.
Chief Alsvig is from San Jose, California and enlisted in the Air Force in May 1995. His background includes various aircraft maintenance career field duties, maintenance management and first sergeant. He has served in a variety of leadership positions at the squadron, group, wing, and major command levels. His duties have included tours as a first sergeant, squadron and group senior enlisted leader, command first sergeant, Air Force First Sergeant Academy Commandant and command chief.
Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the United States Air Force First Sergeant Special Duty Manager, Headquarters Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
