Chief Master Sergeant MATTHEW R.D. KING

Chief Master Sergeant Matthew R.D. King is the Command Chief, Cadet Wing, U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is the principle enlisted advisor to the Commandant on training, education, standards and personnel matters for a 4,400-personnel Cadet Wing and 236 total force permanent party members. Additionally, as the career field manager for the Academy Military Training NCO (8B200) Developmental Special Duty, he is responsible for the recruiting, hiring, training, development, utilization and readiness of 107 personnel across the career field. He also provides mentorship to cadets, four group commanders, 40 squadron commanders, and respective senior enlisted leaders and staff in their mission to build and inspire the next generation of warfighters prepared to lead with character for our U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force.

Chief King has performed various duties within the cyber communications career field at the squadron, wing, field operating agency and major command levels; additionally, he has served at Headquarters Air Force. His stateside assignments include bases in Washinton D.C., Virginia, Colorado, Florida, and California. Chief King has also completed three overseas assignments and deployed multiple times in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM, NEW DAWN, INHERENT RESOLVE, RESOLUTE SUPPORT, IRAQI FREEDOM, SPARTAN SHIELD, PROSPERITY GUARDIAN, and POSEIDON ARCHER.

Prior to assuming his current position, Chief King served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing, Qatar.
