SENATOR BEN NELSON

Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) is a member of the U.S. Air Force Academy's Board of Visitors. As a member of the Board, Senator Nelson inquires into the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods and other matters relating to the Academy that the Board decides to consider.

Senator Nelson was appointed to the Board by the Vice President in 2007.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Senator Nelson is assigned to the Senate Agriculture, Armed Services, Personnel, Veteran's Affairs and Appropriations committees. Before being elected to the Senate in 2000, he was Nebraska's governor from 1990-1998. He has served as CEO of the Central National Insurance Group, as Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and as director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance.
