The funeral service for a cadet and his father killed in a plane crash is 1:30 p.m., Jan. 12 at the Cadet Chapel.

Cadet 4th Class Timothy Barber and retired Lt. Col. Greg Barber died Dec. 31 when the private plane they were flying in was struck by another aircraft near the Aero Country Airport near Dallas, Texas.

Tim Barber was assigned to Cadet Squadron 03. Greg Barber was an Air Force pilot and flight instructor.

The Barbers will be interred at the Air Force Academy Cemetery after the service.

“This is a tragedy for the Barbers and for those of us in their Air Force family,” said Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Michelle Johnson. “Our thoughts are with them, as well as with their friends and loved ones. This is profoundly sad news for all of us at the Air Force Academy. We stand ready to support Cadet Barber’s family, and also have resources at the ready to help cadets and staff weather our loss.”

Timothy Barber is survived by his mother, Mandy Barber, sister Becca Barber, and brothers Ben and Franklyn Barber.
