U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo -- For the twentieth year in a row, a group of Air Force Academy cadets are trading a bit of rest and relaxation in favor of building or repairing homes and cleaning debris as part of the Academy’s Alternate Spring Break Program.
"The Cadet Wing is eager to support Habitat for Humanity during Spring Break again this year," said Lt. Col. Stephani Hunsinger, deputy chief of curriculum. “The cadets will venture to eight locations across the U.S. to volunteer their time and talents to assist families in need.”
Habitat for Humanity is a global nonprofit organization the provides families decent and affordable housing. Cadets will be volunteering in: Bryan, Corpus Christi, and Houston, Texas; Yreka, California; Fort Smith, Arizona; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Tupelo, Missouri; and Thibodeaux, Louisiana.
The Alternate Spring Break Program is funded through private donations and the Cadet Wing Curriculum division.
