U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- On Aug. 9-10, USA Cycling will be hosting a Masters Road National Championship on base.  As depicted in the attachment, the race course includes sections of Stadium Blvd, Pine Dr, Interior Dr, Cross Dr, Parade Loop and North Gate Blvd.

There will be significant traffic impacts associated with the race.  Most notably, vehicle traffic on Stadium Blvd (from North Gate Blvd to Falcon Stadium) will be consolidated on the northbound lanes to allow the race participants to use the southbound lanes.  This will be particularly impactful at the intersection of Stadium Blvd and North Gate Blvd where drivers northbound on Stadium will not be able to turn left onto North Gate.  Attachment 2 depicts the traffic control measures that you’ll see at that intersection.  Also, all of Cross Drive and almost all of Interior Drive will be limited to northbound travel only.

We will maintain normal vehicle traffic patterns on the other areas of the course, but drivers are asked to move their vehicles onto the shoulders when they see the state troopers at the front of the peloton-like formation.  USA Cycling will also have marshals at every intersection of the race to help guide both cyclists and drivers.

Please use caution when driving on base during the event, and follow all traffic control signs and the directions of the USA Cycling marshals.  Thank you for your understanding as we support this community event.
