U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The North Gate at the Air Force Academy will close to all traffic March 26 until further notice. The Academy is open for official business only. Those on official business need to use the South Gate to enter the base and plan extra time to get through the gate.

The U.S. Air Force Academy installation commander declared a public health emergency for the base March 23 due to the evolving threat of COVID-19. Additionally, base officials elevated the Academy's health protection condition to HPCON-Charlie to further safeguard service members, community and the national defense missions supported here.

Shopping at the Commissary or Main Exchange is not considered official business. The Academy understands the inconvenience this may pose for some military retirees in the community, but all movements made by the Academy are focused on public safety.
