The Air Force recently selected Col. Otis Jones to be the Air Force Academy’s next Vice superintendent.

Jones is scheduled to arrive at the school next month and replace Col. Houston Cantwell, Vice Superintendent since July 2018.

Jones, a 1995 Academy graduate, will come to the Academy from Yokota Air Base, Japan where he currently commands the 374th Airlift Wing.

The Vice Superintendent supports the three-star general Academy Superintendent in directing military training, academics, athletics,  and character development programs leading to a bachelor’s degree and commissioning as a second lieutenant into the United States Air or Space Force.

Earlier this year, the Senate confirmed Cantwell’s July nomination to Brigadier General. He’s slated to leave the Academy July 3 for Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy to command the NATO Alliance Ground Surveillance Force.
