U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – The Pediatric Clinic in the Air Force Academy Clinic is reopening in its new location June 30 as the sections of a multi-year construction project reach completion.
Medical services at the clinic have changed since it was built in 1958, and the medical staff knew it was important to incorporate customer feedback, wait times and the increase of beneficiaries into the new design. For example, the Family Health Clinic, which used to be housed in the previous emergency rooms, will now be co-located with the Pediatric Clinic.
“It was important to remodel for the services we offer today,” said Maj. Lorna Blodgett, 10th Medical Group public affairs representative.
Once construction is complete in early 2021, there will be five completely renovated and spacious operating rooms for same-day surgery. In radiology, there will be an additional MRI unit, bringing the on-site number to two, and a new computerized tomography unit. Infrastructure throughout the first floor of the clinic is also being upgraded to meet safety codes and expand wireless capacity for increased staff mobility.
“This ensures the 10th Medical Group continues to provide safe, patient-centered healthcare,” she said.
Col. Christopher Grussendorf. 10th MDG commander, thanked the clinic customers for their patience and flexibility.
“The investment we are making now will have a positive effect on our community for years to come,” he said.
