U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – To best protect the health and safety of cadets and all personnel, academic classes will take place on Veterans Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving to allow the semester to end earlier in December.

This decision was based on the COVID-19 environment on base, in the local Colorado area, and around the country. It also included an evaluation of health risks to cadets traveling to see family for a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Cadet liberties on Thanksgiving Day will be determined based on conditions on the Academy and in the local community. Cadets spending time with sponsor families and other options at the Academy are being considered.

The health of Cadets, faculty and staff remains the top priority, and the extended Christmas break will provide more time for cadets to safely visit their families.
