As of 11 a.m., Feb. 28, 2024, the fire is approximately 75 percent contained. Ongoing precipitation and the increase in relative humidity have moved the area out of a Red Flag Warning. Fire crews from the region will continue to address any remaining areas of concern throughout the day.

The U.S. Air Force Academy remains open only to Defense Department ID cardholders, contractors, and Academy District 20 students. Clune Arena opens to ticketholders at 4 p.m. for the Air Force vs. Boise State men’s basketball game which starts at 7 p.m.

The pre-evacuation notice for housing residents was rescinded Feb. 26 and U.S. Air Force Academy operations continue as scheduled. The Child Development Centers and Military Treatment Facility will be open for regular hours.

Individuals are reminded to stay away from the fire area and avoid any interference with the ongoing response. Some road closures remain in effect, and everyone should follow directions from Security Forces. If the situation changes due to the fire or weather, updates will be communicated.
