A peek inside cadet life awaits cadet parents and families at the Academy's annual Parents' Weekend, Thursday through Sunday.

Thursday marks the influx of several thousand visitors to the Academy, along with parents club meetings.

Friday will be the first full day of Parents' Weekend, which brings an estimated 10,000 cadet parents and family members to the Pikes Peak Region for the Labor Day Weekend.

Marquee events for Friday include:

· The Parent's Weekend parade at 10 a.m.
· The opportunity for parents to shadow their cadet through classes all day
· Breakfast or lunch in the Mitchell Hall Dining Facility
· Open house in each cadet squadron for their cadets' parents in the evening.

Parents will also be able to attend open houses at the Academy Airfield, meet the coaches of all Academy teams at the Athletic Department, and tour the new Indoor Training Facility.

Several sporting events are scheduled for Parents Weekend, including:

· Women's soccer versus the University of California Davis, Friday at 4:30 p.m.
· Men's soccer versus Eastern Washington, Friday at 7 p.m.
· Air Force football's season opener versus Idaho State on Saturday at noon

The 10,000 visitors will generate an estimated $7,524,000 in direct revenue within the Pikes Peak Region, and an additional $556,776 in sales tax revenue during this next weekend. This is a fraction of the nearly $1 billion in total annual economic impact the Air Force Academy has on Colorado Springs and its surrounding communities.
