An estimated 9,500 visitors will descend upon the Pikes Peak region for the Academy's annual Parent's Weekend Thursday through Sunday.

The 9,500 visitors will generate an estimated $7,524,000 in direct revenue within the Pikes Peak Region, and an additional $556,776 in sales tax revenue during this next weekend. This is a fraction of the more than $851 million in total annual economic impact the Air Force Academy has on Colorado Springs and its surrounding communities.

"As we are the proud home of the United States Air Force Academy, Parent's Weekend is a fantastic opportunity to showcase what Colorado Springs and the region have to offer these Cadets as well as their families," said Doug Price, Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau President & CEO. "Parent's Weekend is held during the Labor Day holiday providing parents, families and students a taste of some of our best area events including the Colorado Balloon Classic, Commonwheel Arts and Crafts Festival, Mountain Man Rendezvous and Sky Sox Baseball. We're thankful for this event that helps fill our lodging properties, restaurants and attractions."
