SANTA FE TRAIL CLOSED ON AIR FORCE ACADEMY

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, CO -- A portion of the Santa Fe Trail will be closed weekdays but remain open weekends beginning Apr. 18 until Oct. 30 while construction repairs are made to the Tri Intersection Bridge on Southgate Blvd.

Safety hazards to the public caused by heavy construction traffic under the bridge on the trail force the closure located approx. 2 miles from the south trail entrance to the Academy and approx. 4 miles from the north gate Santa Fe trail head (see attached photo). The public is encouraged to plan their use of the Santa Fe Trail accordingly during the closure period.

Construction repairs will begin with the removal of empty Swallow bird nests and preventative measures taken to prevent birds from nesting and possibly causing delays to the start of bridge repairs.
