Heightened security at Air Force Academy in effect for D-20 high school graduation ceremonies next week

  • Published
As previously announced on May 8, the U.S. Air Force Academy has instituted heightened security measures and adjusted visitor access to the institution.

As a result, all visitors to the Academy without DBIDS/CAC ID cards for District 20 high school graduations next week (May 20, 21) will be subject to search at the North Gate. District 20 visitors with DBIDS/CAC ID cards can enter the Academy through either the South Gate or North Gate. If using the North Gate, the Academy recommends that all visitors allow at least two hours from the time they arrive to gain access. Carpooling is also highly recommended.

All documents from entrants, including driver's licenses, registration and car insurance, should be up to date when entering the base. Anyone in the vehicle may be asked for identification. IDs for children under 16 are not required.

This decision has been made to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our Airmen, graduation participants and visitors. Your support and patience is greatly appreciated.
