Academy adds 11 more graduates to the long blue line

The Air Force Academy adds 11 new graduates to the Air Force today at 11 a.m., at this summer session's graduation and commissioning ceremony.

Today, the Air Force's newest 2nd Lieutenants and the newest members of the Air Force Academy's Long Blue Line of graduates are:

· Tory Camron Brown of Portland, Oregon, who will graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. His next assignment is to Vance AFB, Okla, for undergraduate pilot training.

· Kirsten Bunecke of Colorado Springs, Colo., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering Management. Her next assignment will be to Shaw AFB, S.C., as a finance officer.

· Nicholas Edward Espinoza of San Antonio, Texas, who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science. His next assignment will be to Laughlin AFB, Texas, for undergraduate pilot training.

· Ryan Andrew Fattal of Seal Beach, Calif., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Humanities. His next assignment will be to Schriever AFB, Colo, as a space operations officer.

· Michael Anthony Fisk of Palmer Lake, Colo., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Management. His next assignment will be to Schriever AFB, Colo, as a space operations officer.

· Zachary William Hoeffner of Albany, N.Y., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. His next assignment will be to Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio as a scientist.

· Alex Michael Jessop of Toledo, Ohio, who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. His next assignment will be to Cannon AFB, N.M., as an engineering officer.

· Megan Christine Lavelle of San Diego, Calif., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Humanities. Her next assignment is to Columbus AFB, Miss., for undergraduate pilot training.


· Thomas Christopher Popp of Bowie, Md., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. His next assignment will be to Laughlin AFB, Texas, for undergraduate pilot training.

· Jacob Thomas Spiering of Goldsboro, Md., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. His next assignment will be to Vance AFB, Okla., for undergraduate pilot training.

· Scott David Wooden of Williamsburg, Va., who will graduate with Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. His next assignment will be to Laughlin AFB, Texas, for undergraduate pilot training.

Retired Gen. Kevin P. Chilton will be the guest speaker for the ceremony. The general is a 1976 Air Force Academy graduate, who last served as commander, U.S. Strategic Command, before retiring in 2011.

Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, Academy Superintendent, will present the diplomas to the new graduates, along with Brig. Gen. Andrew Armacost, dean of the faculty. After receiving their diplomas, the Academy's newest graduates will swear the oath of office and each will have family members pin on their new rank.

These 11 lieutenants bring the Air Force Academy's total number of graduates to 46,039 since the first graduating class, which was the Class of 1959.
