10th Air Base Wing to host Wingman Day Thurs.

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. --  To the dedicated Airmen of the 10th Air Base Wing at the Air Force's Academy, please accept my personal invitation to attend our upcoming Wingman Day, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday in Arnold Hall.

I invite all leaders to shut-down their functions where possible or go to maintain minimal manning where it is absolutely essential. I assure you the event will be a transforming experience to every participant, personally and professionally.

Our 10th Air Base Wing Wingman culture emphasizes one-on-one communication and care for our fellow Airmen, both military and civilian. This allows us to strengthen and maintain our wellbeing through mental, social, physical, and spiritual fitness. Our Wingman Day will reinforce how we can continue to build upon "being," not merely "acting" the part of a good Wingman with each other.

As I have expressed previously, it is my honor and privilege to serve with the warriors of the 10th ABW. Since my arrival, I have witnessed many of you surviving personal and community losses. As I reflect upon this, I'm amazed to hear the stories of how resilient you are and how you're using your personal skills to cope and aid your fellow Airmen - both here and in our local community. I've never served with a group of professionals who display such high levels of selfless service, compassion, and dedication - wow!

When each of us joined the Air Force, either as a Defense Department uniformed Airman or contractor, we became part of a unique culture. The foundation of this culture is our Core Values: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. I am continuously in awe of the display of Core values in action -- it's not merely a mantra for the majority of you -- it's a way of how you conduct your daily life.

Again, please accept my sincere gratitude for your purposeful, and deliberate, commitment to being a Wingman. I'm very honored and privileged to serve with such a stellar group of people. I'll see you Thursday!
