U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Imaginative fun shines from cleverly-crafted ceramic pigs displayed in this year’s “Painting with A Pig” competition at the 10th Force Support Squadron’s Arts and Crafts Center.
Entries include "Bob Ross-Pig," Winged Pig, "Spidey-Pig," "Oscar Meyer-Pig," and others.
“We created this competition because we all spend so much time focusing on the mission,” said Debbie Brown, the Arts and Crafts Centers' manager. “We just wanted to do something irrelevant and fun and get everyone involved. The competition seems to have grown every year.”
Cadets got involved for the first time this year, submitting 15 of more than 60 creative entries, adding to the appeal and options for competition voters.
Each contestant was given a ceramic pig, encouraged to be creative and decorate it as they see fit.
Academy staff and families may visit the center Monday through Friday and vote for their favorite pig.
Voters will select their six favorite pigs in the adult, youth and cadet categories.
Votes will be tallied, winners announced and prizes awarded, including Famous Dave’s gift certificates and others.
This is the fourth year the Arts and Crafts Center has hosted this just-for-fun competition.
