U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- All it takes to improve the conditions of roads here is a phone call.
By calling 333-2079 to report any unsightly potholes, drivers can help extend the life-cycle of roads and parking lots.
John Sutherland, 10th Civil Engineer Squadron’s pavements and heavy equipment supervisor, asks callers to give the specific location of the road damage, including nearby intersections or a building address, and their contact information.
Colorado’s extreme weather keeps road repair crews busy.
“Potholes are created when the ice filling cracks in the parking lots and roads expands,” Sutherland said. “The damage is compounded by traffic, heavy industrial vehicles and an unusually warm winter. It’s the perfect situation to create potholes. Asphalt maintenance is a never-ending issue here.”
The 10th CES is responsible for environmental, emergency and housing management; safety; fire and emergency services; and quality control here.
