U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Fifteen foreign exchange cadets at the Air Force Academy are scheduled to graduate with their U.S. counterparts this month.
The exchange cadets are from Moldova; Taiwan; Romania; Peru; Lithuania; Nigeria; Malaysia; Georgia; Iraq; Rwanda; Philippines; Thailand; The Gambia; Singapore and other U.S. partner nations.
“Of the 15 cadets, 14 are scheduled to graduate with the Academy’s Class of 2017 and one is scheduled to graduate after that date,” said International Program Manager Elizabeth Orie.
The cadet graduation ceremony is May 24 at Falcon Stadium.
“The exchange cadets attend the Academy for its four-year program and fall under the same rules and regulations as their U.S. counterparts.”
All Academy cadets graduate with bachelors of science degree.
Three of the foreign exchange cadets majored in aeronautical engineering; two cadets double majored: one in computer network security and computer science, the other in economics and management; two majored in systems engineering; and two in electrical engineering.
The remaining six majored in: physics; management; computer engineering; political science; biochemistry; and geospatial science.
All 15 foreign exchange cadets made the Dean’s list in the spring semester.
After graduating from the Academy, the foreign exchange cadets serve in their home country's military.
“The Academy’s international program promotes international cooperation, builds defense and security relationships, and promotes U.S. security interests,” Orie said.
