Academy to host Warrior Games events

The Air Force Academy will host a number of events for the Warrior Games April 30 through May 5.

The United States Olympic Committee and the Department of Defense host the Warrior Games, an Olympic-style event created in 2010 and open to all wounded, ill and injured military members and veterans.

This year, more than 200 wounded, ill and injured service men, women and veterans are expected to compete in seven sports: archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track & field, and wheelchair basketball. Visit the Warrior Games website for more details.

Air Force teams will compete against teams from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy and Coast Guard.

You can show your support for our Air Force wounded warriors by attending the Warrior Games and by thanking the participating athletes for their service and sacrifice. The events are free of charge and great for the entire family. Those attending are encouraged to wear their Air Force uniform or civilian attire with Air Force logos to show your support for Air Force athletes.
