Fallen Airman's family receives Medal of Honor
President Barack Obama, right, presents a Medal of Honor award to Richard Etchberger, son of U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Richard L. Etchberger, during a ceremony at the White House Sept. 21, 2010. Richard Etchberger and his brothers, Steve Wilson and Cory Etchberger, all attended the ceremony to accept the posthumous award on behalf of their father, who received the medal for his actions during the Vietnam War. Chief Master Sgt. Etchberger exposed himself to enemy fire in order to save three fellow Airmen during an attack on their position in Laos March 11, 1968. Etchberger suffered fatal wounds after placing the wounded Airmen in rescue slings so they could be airlifted to safety. (U.S. Air Force photo/Jim Varhegyi)
