Senior Tom Whitney (La Quinta, Calif.) notched his first win of the season to lead the Air Force golf team at the Triumph at Pauma Valley, hosted by San Francisco at the par-71, 7,077-yard Pauma Valley Country Club. The Falcons, who shot a three-round score of 917 (+65), placed fifth in the team standings.

Whitney, who entered the final round tied for first place in the individual standings, was the only golfer in the field to shoot below par on Tuesday. With a tournament-low score of 68 in the final round, Whitney finished at 211 (-2), four strokes ahead of runner-up Steven Lecuyer of Central Arkansas.

With his win, Whitney now holds the Academy record for most top-three finishes in a career with 10. While it is his first victory of the season, he has now placed in the top three five times this year and in the top 10 seven times (in nine tournaments).
