Academy band, Colo. Springs Youth Symphony to combine talents

The U.S. Air Force Academy Band's Blue Steel ensemble is scheduled to join the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony for a free performance at the Pikes Peak Center March 14 at 2 p.m.

Tickets for the event are available at the Pikes Peak Center and World Arena box offices.

"This will be a great show, one the entire family will enjoy," said Lt. Col. Larry H. Lang, commander of the Academy Band, who will direct the concert. "Some of the best talent in the Air Force and Colorado Springs will perform. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the show."

The Air Force Academy Band appears on behalf of Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, superintendent of the Academy. All performances are free and open to the public.

The Academy Band is one of two Air Force premier musical organizations. It is composed of active-duty Airmen who are all professional musicians. The band maintains a rigorous performance schedule in support of cadet and Air Force troop morale, recruiting and community outreach.

For more than 50 years, the Academy Band has used the power of music to inspire Air Force personnel and the nation it serves, produces innovative musical programs and products, and communicates Air Force excellence to millions around the globe.
