Board of Visitors to meet in Washington Dec. 10

The Air Force Academy's Board of Visitors is scheduled to meet in Washington, D.C., Dec. 10 to discuss a variety of issues, including diversity and faculty deployments as well as messages from the superintendent and other Academy personnel.

A morning informational session will include an award ceremony for Rep. Peter DeFazio, opening remarks from the Board's chair and panels on cadet diversity and recently deployed graduates. The afternoon session will include the superintendent's update and subcommittee outbriefs.

Members of the Board of Visitors include:

-- Charles Garcia, Board chairman and a 1983 Air Force Academy graduate
-- A.J. Scribante, Board vice chairman and chairman and CEO of Vital Learning Corporation
-- Sen. Bob Bennett of Utah
-- Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska
-- Sen. James Inhofe of Oklahoma
-- Rep. Jared Polis, Colorado's 2nd District
-- Rep. Doug Lamborn, Colorado's 5th District
-- Rep. Loretta Sanchez, California's 47th District
-- Rep. Niki Tsongas, Massachusetts' 5th District
-- Former U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab, professor of public policy for the University of Maryland
-- Terry Isaacson, associate vice president of Arizona State University and a 1964 Academy graduate
-- Susan Ross, owner of Sierra Consulting and a 1983 graduate
-- Former Rep. Robert Hayes, owner and operator of Mount Pleasant Hosiery Mill Inc.
-- Dr. Richard Tubb, a retired brigadier general and 1981 Academy graduate

Also expected to attend the meeting are:
 
-- Daniel B. Ginsberg, assistant secretary of the Air Force for manpower and reserve affairs
-- Gen. Carrol Chandler, Air Force vice chief of staff
-- Lt. Gen. Richard Y. Newton III, deputy chief of staff for manpower and personnel
-- Lt. Gen. Michael C. Gould, the Academy's superintendent, and other members of the Academy's senior staff.
