Academy Airmen selected for staff sgt. promotion Published Aug. 20, 2015 U.S. Air Force Academy Public Affairs U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Air Force released the names of the 13,269 Airmen selected for promotion to staff sergeant August 20. Several of those Airmen are assigned to the Air Force Academy, including Senior Airman Christopher Boyd of the 10th Security Forces Squadron. "Finding out that I made staff sergeant is pretty surreal," Boyd said. "I worked hard for it. I managed to balance our 12-hour shifts with studying and it paid off." This is the first staff sergeant promotion cycle to incorporate the Weighted Airman Promotion System changes, such as minimum promotion fitness examination, skills knowledge test scores and lower time-in-service and time-in-grade. Selectees are promoted according to their promotion sequence number. Sequence or line numbers are updated on or around the 15th of each month on the enlisted promotion line numbers page.
