Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson, the Academy superintendent, spoke at the event. "When we think about the Academy, we sometimes tend to think only about cadets, but I cannot emphasize enough the importance of our permanent party staff members across all mission elements that make our Academy a world class installation," she said. "We absolutely would not be able to achieve our mission without our enlisted and officer corps and our civilian teammates. We are all Airmen, united in service to our nation." The Academy event celebrated the achievements of Airmen who stayed true to the Air Force core values, said Airman 1st Class Barbara Hoerth, the 10th Air Base Wing's Airman of the Quarter. "This is such a proud moment in life, to walk away with something that truly signifies these values and a symbol of excellence at our Academy," she said. "The only way to go from here is up." Col. Troy Dunn, the 10th Air Base Wing commander, hosted the event. He said the award recipients and their families deserve recognition for their efforts to improve the Academy and the Air Force.
