Fort Carson host Independence Day celebration July 3

Fort Carson will host a free July 4th celebration for the general public July 3 at Iron Horse Park 4-10 p.m.

The event will feature live music from the 4th Infantry Division band, a variety of family-friendly games and attractions and a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.

Pets and glass containers are not allowed. Local and State law prohibits personally-purchased fireworks on the Army post.

Access for non-Defense Department ID card holders will be Gate 1 off Highway 115, and Gate 20 off Interstate 25. Visitor passes will not be required from 2-9 p.m. Those using these gates for the event will have to show a current driver's license, auto registration and valid auto insurance before driving onto Fort Carson. Vehicle may be inspected and military working dog teams will be in the event area.

Only law enforcement officers in the performance of official duties may bring a concealed weapon on the Army post. 

Possession of marijuana on a federal installation is a violation of federal law.

The U.S. Air Force Academy will not host any events featuring firework during the holiday. Use of fireworks is prohibited on the Academy.
