The Commander in Chief's Trophy has a new home for the week - the Academy's High Country Inn, which serves as a dining facility to the Preparatory School and single Airmen living in the dorms.

The trophy is making its rounds around the installation, giving everyone a chance to see it.

Cadet Candidate Mafalda Brancal said she's excited to be so close to such a tangible part of the Academy heritage.

"It's really cool to see what the Academy has been doing since 1972," she said. "So it's awesome to see them continuing the tradition. It shows what we stand for. This makes all of us want to keep it going once we're at the Academy."

Tech. Sgt. John Austin, an Academy military trainer at the Prep School, said he thinks being included in the trophy rounds can inspire cadet candidates to work harder.

"I can see the impact it has on cadet candidates - so many of them have gone over to take a picture of it," he said. "It means a lot to them to be included in what the Academy is doing - because getting into the Academy is what they're trying to do. It's a very cool element that helps them focus on what they're trying to achieve."

The Commander in Chief's Trophy will be at the 10th Medical Group next week, before moving to other locations here before being taken to Washington for the presidential presentation this spring. The trophy will return to the Academy with the team after the ceremony.
