USAFA statement regarding AD hiring process

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Colorado Springs Gazette today filed a story with a list of names that "a source" claims is the final candidate list for the Academy's open Athletic Director position. Here is our statement to address that report and allegation:

"In reference to conjecture that there is a final candidate list for the AFA AD position, we have not released any information about any applicant's identity, nor would we. The Academy has aggressively guarded against the release of any information concerning this ongoing process to protect the privacy of all applicants involved and the integrity of that process, as we would with any federal civilian position open for hire. We find this speculation to be irresponsible and extremely unfortunate, and we cannot confirm the accuracy of those 12 citizens that the some claim are final candidates for the position. We will not release any details about the AD hiring process until it is complete."
