Personnel across the Academy have been contributing to charities of their choice in support of the 2014 Combined Federal Campaign since Oct. 1.

CFC keyworkers from various units here have been tracking Academy contributions, with a current total of $299,000 and 587 pledges, since Oct. 27.

Last year, the Academy raised $ 347,225 for the Pikes Peak Region's CFC. The campaign is open to all federal employees, and authorized and endorsed by the president and Congress.

In keeping with this year's theme, "My choice, my story, my pledge," the Academy has a silent goal, asking personnel to donate to a local, national or international charity that personally speaks to them.

"Our focus isn't to target a certain amount of money, but rather for personnel to form personal relationships with a charity of their choice," said Maj. Mark Braun, CFC project officer and Dean of the Faculty instructor here. "Contributors aren't giving to the CFC but through it to a charity they believe in."

Academy employees can donate through mid- December but are encouraged to contribute before Nov. 21. They can participate by filling out a pledge form or through the Defense Finance and Accounting Service's MyPay website.

"MyPay is the easiest way people can contribute," Braun said. "They can browse through the different charities and easily setup a one-time contribution or reoccurring charge each month. It's paperless and less prone to error."

The Academy's mission couldn't be accomplished without the support of families and loved ones, said Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson.

"In a similar way, there is a large network of organizations dedicated to service," she said. "The CFC is a terrific opportunity for all Airmen to show their support by giving to one or more of these organizations."
