USAFA gate hours to change Tuesday Published June 25, 2014 By U.S. Air Force Academy Public Affairs Academy Public Affairs U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY PUBLIC AFFAIRS -- Academy staff and visitors might consider changing their route to work starting Tuesday because Defense Department manpower reductions have changed the operational hours of several gates throughout the installation. North gate visitor hours will be 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., reducing daily public access by two hours but balancing security needs and public access and aligning gate hours with the Barry Goldwater Visitor Center and the Cadet Chapel operating hours. North gate operating hours for DOD ID cardholders will be 5:30 a.m. -10 p.m. daily. The north gate will no longer remain open until 1:30 a.m. on weekend. Anyone entering or departing the base after 10 p.m. will need to travel through the south gate. The Academy is also scheduled to reduce the operating hours at two interior gates accessible only by DOD ID cardholders. The gate between Vandenberg Hall and the athletic facilities will be open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and can be used all other times by Common Access Card-holders. The gate behind Sijan Hall will be open 6 -9 a.m. Monday through Friday, and is accessible by Academy Common Access Card-holders.
