CDOT lowers speed limit through I-25 Expansion Project Published Nov. 15, 2013 By Academy Public Affairs Academy Public Affairs U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Starting Nov. 17, the speed limit on I-25 between Woodman Road and just north of Interquest Parkway will be lowered from 65 mph to 55 mph as a safety measure for interstate expansion project workers. Those workers are scheduled to install new speed limit signs, guardrails and lights on both sides of the interstate between Nov. 17 - 23, a news release from the Colorado Department of Transportation said. "A 65 mph speed limit has been in effect through this area but as work increases and the protective concrete barrier is repositioned from the southbound lanes, driver and worker safety is requiring the speed reduction," CDOT said. Nighttime speed limits remain at 45 mph in areas where traffic is restricted to one lane and Colorado State Patrol troopers will continue to strictly enforce speed limits. "At the Academy, 10th Security Forces Squadron patrolman will continue to monitor traffic speed in all areas of base, paying particular attention to the construction zones on the installation," said Senior Master Sgt. Shadd McKee, 10th SFS Operations and Training superintendent.
