Beginning this week, we’ll highlight the efforts of Airmen, officers and civilians at the Air Force Academy whose daily efforts support our mission of developing leaders of character.

Senior Airman Andrea Gonzalez

Air Force Specialty: Personnel

Unit: U.S. Air Force Academy Directorate of Manpower and Personnel

Duty position:  Command Officer Promotions Manager

“I run the officer promotions program for seven senior raters on the installation for promotions to captain through colonel. I quality-review all promotion recommendation forms and ensure they are received by the Air Force Personnel Center for the selection board. The positive impact: officers get promoted.”

Hometown: Caldwell, Idaho.

Favorite aspect of being assigned to the Academy: “The location and the career opportunities I've gotten, which are not common at my rank.”

Hobbies: I spend most of my free time at home relaxing or at the gym.

“Senior Airman Gonzalez gets things done! She demonstrates professionalism and initiative, and is unflappable even while briefing senior leaders. It's amazing to watch an Airman who is completely dedicated to the mission and has command-wide impact. The Academy is better because of her service. We know she will continue to do great things for our Air Force.” – Lt. Col. Denise Shea, Personnel Division chief.

(Gonzalez is scheduled to depart for Ramstein Air Base, Germany this summer)
