Academy grad makes 2nd spacewalk

U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Kjell Lindgren, a 1995 Air Force Academy graduate and astronaut aboard the International Space Station, took his second walk in space Nov. 6.

Lindgren and astronaut Scott Kelly spent about six hours outside the ISS, floating more than 200 miles above the Earth, to work on the spacecraft's cooling system.

Lindgren is the station's flight engineer. He took his first walk in space Oct. 27 when he joined Kelly outside the ISS to work on its Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer, designed to measure antimatter in cosmic rays, and search for evidence of dark matter.

The astronauts also worked on power and data cables to prepare for the installment of a docking port for other spacecraft.

Lindgren is slated to be aboard the ISS for five months. In September, he chatted via teleconference from the ISS with children of other 1995 Academy graduates during a Class of '95 reunion at the Academy.
