Harmon Hall Lecture series announced Published Oct. 15, 2015 U.S. Air Force Academy Public Affairs U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Air Force Academy will host the 58th annual Harmon Memorial Lecture in Military History 7:15-8:30 p.m., Oct. 21 in Arnold Hall. The event is the Academy's most-prestigious lecture series and was designed to honor the legacy of Lt. Gen. Hubert Harmon, the Academy's first superintendent. The goal of the lecture series is to encourage cadets to develop a lifelong passion for the study of military history. The event speaker is retired Col. John Warden III, a 1965 Academy graduate and airpower strategist. Warden's scheduled presentation is "The Profession of Arms in the 21st Century." Warden served in flying, staff and command positions while on active duty. He created the Air Force's initial "Global Reach, Global Power doctrine, and developed the Instant Thunder air campaign used in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm. He's also the author of "The Air Campaign: Planning for Combat," a National Defense University Press Publication. The lecture series is open to the general public. Guests must enter the Academy through the North Gate and have valid drivers' licenses, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
