A 5k run is scheduled here to drum-up donations for the Air Force Assistance Fund Campaign, 9 a.m., April 9 at the base’s Par Course.

Entry fees collected at the event will be donated to the campaign.

Those entry fees are $10 for cadets and airmen through senior airmen; $15 for staff and technical sergeants, and company grade officers; $20 for senior and chief master sergeants and field grade officers and $30 for brigadier generals and senior-ranking generals.

“Most of us may not realize that it’s the AFAF providing us with some of the most commonly-used resources in the Air Force, such as Give Parents a Break, Bundles for Babies, emergency travel and scholarships,” said Tech. Sgt. Monica Cox, the Academy headquarters staff AFAF representative.

“Every penny donated goes right back to Airmen, dependents and retirees. This is what makes AFAF such a great cause.”

The Air Force’s donation goal for the Academy is $60,184. The campaign began across the Air Force March 21 and the Academy has so far raised $16,769.

The AFAF consists of four charitable 501(c)(3) organizations: the Air Force Enlisted Village, the LeMay Foundation, the Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation and the Air Force Aid Society.
