Several upgrades to Falcon Stadium at the Air Force Academy are scheduled to be unveiled Sept. 3 when Air Force opens the 2016-2017 season by hosting Abilene Christian University.

The improvements to the stadium include a new sound system and video boards.

The video board at the south side of the stadium is the largest of any Mountain West school or service academy and features 2,500 square-feet of HD video display, according to an Aug. 31 news release by the Academy’s Athletic Department. Another HD video board is installed at the north side of the stadium.

Fans can now meet cadets from a variety of academic majors and Academy clubs at Falcon Alley, or line the sidewalks east of the stadium, 9:30-10 a.m. to welcome the Falcons and the ACU Wildcats into the stadium. Fans are also invited onto the field after it has been cleared by game officials.

Kickoff-time is noon. The North- and- South Gates at the Academy open to Falcons Fan at 8 a.m. for parking, pre-game activities and tailgating. Tailgating is allowed up to 2 hours after the game ends. Stadium gates and ticket booths open 2 hours before kickoff.

All vehicles entering the base are subject to inspection.
